Fans of the Renault Sport Formula One Team were able to get a close-up look of the 2018 season challenger today as the Renault R.S.18 was unveiled. Using specially created tools, fans could see a stunning hologram projection of the car and spin it through 360 degrees to see its brand-new lines and new black and yellow livery.

The Renault R.S.18 is Renault Sport Formula One Team’s third chassis since its return to Formula 1 as a full works’ entry in 2016. The car is a progression and refinement of the concepts developed during the 2017 season. It includes an improved suspension concept and greater aerodynamic downforce. Noticeably, the R.S.18 also features the mandatory new-for-2018 cockpit protection known as the “halo” and a re-profiled engine cover to comply with the 2018 technical regulations.

The 1.6-liter turbocharged V6 Renault R.E.18 power unit will power the R.S.18. The power unit has realized a very strong program on the dyno in Viry-Châtillon to maximize performance and improve reliability in preparation for the reduction to just three internal combustion engines (ICE) and two MGU-K and energy stores per season.

The R.S.18 is developed jointly by the teams in Enstone, UK, and Viry, France. Significant improvements have been made to the Enstone facility over the past year, with enhancements to the CFD supercomputer, wind tunnel, race team operations room, gearbox dyno, machine shop and an expanded design office. The upgrades have already translated into on-track performance, with Renault Sport Formula One Team finishing the season sixth in the Constructors’ Championship, improving from ninth in 2016.

“Renault Sport Formula One Team’s ambition is clearly to uphold the outstanding record of the past and the 2017 season has confirmed we are on the right track,” said Renault Sport Racing President Jérôme Stoll. “We are a team on the rise. We have two very talented drivers who are hungry for results. Enstone is regenerated and the workforce has already increased by more than 35%. Our investment has so far been successfully translated to the track as we rose from ninth to sixth in the Constructors’ Championship in 2017 and ended the year with the fourth fastest car. The success of the program in just two years is testament to the resilient plan laid down early in the creation of the team and the strong job done by Cyril and the entire Renault Sport Racing teams. I am convinced year three will take us one step closer to the long-term aim: winning races and challenging for championships.”

The Energy Recovery System underpinning the 1.6-liter turbocharged V6 Renault R.E.18 power unit is developed by INFINITI in conjunction with Renault Sport Racing. The power unit has realized a very strong program on the dyno in Viry-Châtillon to maximize performance and improve reliability, in preparation for the allowance reduction to just three internal combustion engines (ICE) and two MGU-K and energy stores per season.

INFINITI are currently preparing to launch the global recruitment for the 2018 INFINITI Engineering Academy, a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity aimed at highly driven students looking to venture into the vehicle engineering industry, where they will brush shoulders with some of the most experienced engineers within automotive and Formula 1â„¢.

grilling burgers

Grillin’ Season is upon us! With burgers the staple of a summertime cookout, make yours memorable by thinking outside of the bun.

Burgers are a staple of the summertime cookout, but it is not unreasonable to suggest that the traditional approach can become a bore after years of consistency. While conventional logic holds that your burger is accompanied by ketchup, mustard, onion, lettuce, tomato and pickle, there is great possibility for boldness in burger-making by selecting more unusual fare. If you are having difficulties dreaming bigger with your burger, try any of the following suggestions.

Put your sides on the inside

If you serve your burger in accordance to tradition, you likely have it placed along a side like kettle chips, fries, coleslaw or baked beans. In an effort to conserve more plate space and punch up your burger offering, consider instead placing those sides atop your burger for a startlingly simple surprise.

The addition of crunchy potato chips can give your burger a satisfying layer of texture and flavor, while piling on a few French fries or sweet potato fries makes for a natural combination that will just feel right. Coleslaw can provide burgers with an extra touch of color and gourmet styling – particularly if your coleslaw incorporates different flavors – and a mound of sweet, dripping baked beans mingle perfectly with BBQ sauce and sautéed onions.

If you are looking for something even more unusual than that, consider sides that you might not otherwise see as being burger-compatible. For example, Bustle.com offers up the suggestions of topping off burgers with crumbled Cheetos or with a healthy amount of macaroni and cheese.

Make room for more meat

If you are a carnivore through and through, you’ve probably topped your burger with bacon or another burger patty. But if you really want to get the most protein out of your meal, consider a number of non-traditional meat toppings for a burger unlike any other.

Food.com recommends Cajun shrimp as a perfectly-viable stand-alone alternative to the beef patty, but you could add to your basic beef burger by piling it high with shrimp. If you love seafood, salmon and crab meat can be stacked on top of your burger or formed into patties for a diverse double burger. If you want to be even more daring, sardines, oysters and mussels are surprisingly effective toppings.

If your tastes are a bit more landlocked, consider topping your burger with a beef, turkey or even ostrich patty for a variety of taste. Additionally, MentalFloss.com points to other unconventional meat toppings that have caught on at restaurants around the world and would fit in perfectly with a cookout, including pulled pork and hot dogs.

If you love burgers, there are infinite possibilities for how to prepare, top and serve them. Whether it’s adding a touch of breakfast with eggs and bacon, a glimmer of green with guacamole or avocado or even an inkling of international with fare like kimchi or curry, let your imagination run wild and concoct the burger of your dreams.

Vacations are essential escapes for families. Parents often need a break from work and household duties to recharge their batteries, and children will appreciate the time spent away from schoolwork for the same reason. However, because vacations are inherently expensive, they can actually just be another source of stress for families. Keep your next vacation stress-free by planning out your vacation on a solid budget that fits your means.

Plan ahead

The single best thing you can do when planning a vacation on a budget is to start planning very early. Doing so means you will find cheaper rates for lodging, airfare and car rentals. It also means you can reserve your lodging in advance, instead of trying to find a hotel with vacancies the day of your arrival. Real Simple does recommend searching for last-minute deals leading up to your departure, however, as airlines and hotels often lower their rates when they have unreserved seats or rooms. Last-minute deals are only helpful for those with flexible plans, however.

During your planning phase, you should also consider the best time to travel. According to U.S. News, gas prices, hotel rates and airfare all go up during the holidays and the summer. Travel during the off-season for reduced rates. In addition, consider visiting friends or family to avoid the cost of a hotel, if your loved ones are willing and able to house you during your stay.

Create a conservative budget

When on vacation, it can be easy to spend your money freely. Remembering the limitations you need to impose on your credit card is difficult when everyone is in such a good mood. It is much easier to manage your money on vacation if you have created a conservative budget beforehand and have reviewed it with your entire family. USA Today lists common expenses to consider-food, lodging, transportation, entertainment, equipment and emergencies-but you must also consider time lost at work as an expense if you are hourly or out of paid time off for the year.

Search for deals

You can never be completely finished researching your vacation. There are always more “deals” to be found online or via your travel agent. Look for package deals with airports and hotels-consider an all-inclusive package for a cruise, resort or amusement park or bundle tickets in advance for shows, museums and other attractions your family wants to visit.

Pack light

According to Real Simple, there are a number of benefits to packing light. If you are traveling by car, you will want to maintain the best fuel economy possible. By limiting your suitcases, you can reduce overall vehicle weight and keep luggage off your roof racks for slightly improved efficiency and aerodynamics. If traveling by plane, you will spend less money on baggage by traveling with less. If you have souvenir money in your budget, it is important to leave some room in your suitcases for the return trip. Doing so will keep you from having to buy additional baggage at your destination before departing for home.

Look for cheaper activities

While some activities are going to be expensive, such as visiting an amusement park, you and your family can plan to find lots of food and entertainment options within your budget. Consider visiting museums or national parks for free entertainment and education, and cook your own meals if staying at a campground, cabin or equipped hotel room. Visit expensive restaurants at breakfast or lunch for reduced prices, and save your leftovers for dinner.

Vacations don’t have to bankrupt your savings account and can still provide an amazing getaway for your family. Keep stress out of your next vacation by following these easy tips.

fancy dinner plate of steak

17,900 and counting…That’s the number of restaurants currently running in the state of Georgia. Living in the Metro-Atlanta area, choosing a restaurant to dine at is harder than it should be. Let’s admit it, Atlanta–WE”RE SPOILED!

Like most, you probably go to the same 10 restaurants. Maybe throw in a new one every now and again just to prove to yourself you’re still adventurous. And if that new restaurant is lucky enough, maybe you’ll throw it into the rotation. Well, Golden Eagle Diner’s Club should be your next adventurous moment eventually leading to an addition into your ‘Restaurant Rotation.’

Open since October of 2017, Golden Eagle is still relatively new, but nonetheless popular. Located along the Beltline’s East Trail in Reynoldstown, the moment you arrive at the refurbished train depot, you’re immediately transported to a different era. When you look at the menu, you really start believing in time travel. Restaurant owner Michael Lennox calls the menu a “no-nonsense, throwback to continental classics of yesteryear,” and features nostalgic dishes of the past like Crab Rangoon (made popular in the 1950s) to Italian Style Garlic Knots. Even the restaurants interior screams originality as it recently won Eater Atlanta’s ‘Design of the Year’ award for being a “stone cold stunner.” If you’re in the mood for some libations, let Bar Manager, Jeff Stockton, help you recapture the long-forgotten pleasure of the Amaretto Sour.

With a 4Star Rating on Yelp and 4.4 Star rating on Google, Michael Lenox and his crew seemed tohit Golden Eagle out of the park. But of course words and ratings can only do so much–you’ll have to visit and see for yourself!

Golden Eagle is open Sunday- Thursday from 5PM to Midnight and Friday-Saturday 5PM to 2AM.For more information, visit their website: GoldenEagleATL.com.

washing car

It may not feel like it today, but the winter driving season is coming to a close. There are some easy things you can do to prepare your vehicle for your spring travels.

The first thing to do is make sure factory-specified maintenance is up to date. Look at your mileage, then check the recommended service schedule in your owner’s manual. You may be due for service or an oil and filter change. Any problems you’re currently encountering – hard starting, rough running, stalling, unevenly worn tires, for example – are reasons to take your vehicle in, as well. A lit “check engine” light is another sure motivator to head for our service department.

Even if you’re not suffering from any gremlins at the moment, nobody wants problems to pop up unexpectedly. Here are a few items to take care of as the winter breaks.

  • Flush and refill the cooling system – Cooling system health is often neglected, and system failures can cost big money and require major engine repairs. Keeping tabs on the coolant level, its condition and concentration (the level of freeze protection it will offer) is crucial to the longevity and proper performance of your engine. As always, follow your vehicle’s maintenance schedule and have the system serviced at the recommended intervals.
  • Check the tires – If you run dedicated winter tires, early spring is a great time to change back to your three-season tires. If you run the same tires and wheels year-round, check their condition now, and don’t forget the spare. Obvious damage, including cuts in the tread or bulges in the sidewalls, need immediate attention. Also check the tread for even wear and safe tread-depth. Make sure they’re aired up to the proper pressure listed in your owner’s manual.
  • Check and adjust belts and hoses – Most modern vehicles use a single “serpentine” belt to drive the charging system, power steering, air conditioning, and water pump. It’s all that stands between getting there and going nowhere. If you see cracks in the serpentine belt, get it replaced. Hoses don’t move much, but they can chafe against other underhood parts, and years of heating and cooling will cause them to break down. Like belts, hoses typically work right up until they don’t. Common signs of old hoses are bulging around fittings and obvious fatigue. If you don’t know what you’re looking for, our technicians at the dealership will be able to help.
  • Fix your air conditioner – While its primary function is to create a comfortable atmosphere inside the car, it’s a safety issue, too. The air conditioner is engaged when you de-fog your windshield, since it effectively removes humidity from the cabin air. The temperature swings and rainy weather of springtime are prime window-fogging weather, and you’re at greater risk for an accident if your windows are fogged and impairing your visibility. Make sure the system is fully charged and have it inspected for leaks.
  • Make sure all the lights work – Being seen is as important as being able to see. It’s as easy as walking around the vehicle with the lights on and making sure the blinkers work. Have a helper step on the brake pedal so you can check the brake lights. If you aren’t sure how to replace any bulbs that have burned out, take your vehicle to our service department for assistance.
  • Change the oil – Winter weather can be hard on engine oil. Temperatures are low, which means it takes the engine longer to warm up and that can lead to extra condensation and acid buildup in the oil. Get that old stuff out of there and start the spring with fresh protection.
  • Replace your wiper blades – Winter does a number on windshield wipers. Being able to see is worth the small amount of money a good set of wiper blades costs.

Following these basic steps will help ensure a trouble-free driving season ahead, without any nasty surprises. Check with our service department to see if there are any specials or coupons that may apply to a comprehensive spring service. We know your vehicle best, too, so be sure to ask for recommendations to keep your car in tip-top condition for the warmer season.

A premium SUV with world-first technologies, stand-out design and unrivaled interior space.

  • Distinctive proportions, with INFINITI’s signature Powerful Elegance design
  • VC-Turbo: The world’s first production-ready variable compression ratio engine
  • ProPILOT Assist: Intuitive technologies support the driver and keep occupants safe and connected
  • All-new platform provides unrivaled space and efficient packaging, with high quality cabin materials

INFINITI has revealed the all-new QX50 – a premium mid-size SUV with world-first technologies, stand-out design and unrivalled interior space, all on an entirely new platform.

Remaining true to the design of the QX50 Concept and QX Sport Inspiration, the QX50’s aerodynamic exterior reinterprets INFINITI’s distinctive Powerful Elegance design language and signature design cues for the SUV segment. It combines a confident stance with intelligent packaging, while deep character lines highlight the influence of human artistry in the design process.

The QX50 is built an all-new platform, featuring a front-engine, front-wheel drive-based layout. Engineered with flexibility of application in mind, the new platform sets new standards for refinement, rigidity and interior space in the compact premium SUV segment.

The unrivalled interior space, artistic application of high quality materials, and advanced craftsmanship make the cabin as welcoming and comfortable as it is flexible. Driver-centric, yet passenger-minded, the QX50 offers a package of technologies to enhance the driving experience. Its asymmetric layout and calm, connected ambience is designed to meet different needs of the driver and passengers.

The VC-Turbo engine is the world’s first production-ready variable compression ratio engine, transforming on demand. A breakthrough in combustion engine design, the 2.0-liter VC-Turbo engine adjusts its compression ratio to optimize power and efficiency. It combines the power of a 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with the torque and efficiency of a four-cylinder diesel engine. A compelling alternative to diesel, it challenges the notion that only hybrid and diesel powertrains can deliver high torque and efficiency.

ProPILOT Assist technologies react discreetly and autonomously to certain driving situations, supporting the driver with a range of empowering ‘co-pilot’ features, placing them in total control.

INFINITI’s all-new 2.0-liter VC-Turbo (Variable Compression Turbo) gasoline engine is the world’s first production-ready variable compression ratio engine. Shown for the first time at the 2016 Mondial de l’Automobile in Paris, the four-cylinder VC-Turbo promises to be one of the most advanced internal combustion engines ever created.

With the ability to continuously transform, INFINITI’s VC-Turbo technology uses an advanced multi-link system to seamlessly raise or lower the stroke of the pistons, detecting the car’s driving condition and driver inputs, and instantly selecting the most suitable compression ratio.
The engine is able to offer any compression ratio between 8:1 (typical for high performance engines) and 14:1 (used by many manufacturers for high efficiency).

The result is an engine that combines the power of a high-performance 2.0-liter turbo gasoline engine with the torque and efficiency of an advanced diesel powertrain – without the equivalent emissions – offering a compelling alternative to similarly-powered four-cylinder diesel engines. The VC-Turbo engine will be comparable to certain six-cylinder gasoline powertrains for performance, while significantly outperforming them in efficiency.
The four-cylinder VC-Turbo engine achieves lower levels of noise and vibration than conventional internal combustion engines, particularly diesel, and is lighter and more compact than V6 units with comparable power outputs.

INFINITI’s VC-Turbo technology marks a significant leap forward for the internal combustion engine, joining other renowned powertrain innovations such as liquid-cooling, fuel injection, catalytic convertors, and turbocharging. The arrival of the variable compression ratio engine will establish new benchmarks for power, efficiency and emissions.

“Vehicle engineers believe that a breakthrough in internal combustion technology would come from mastering the variable compression ratio. INFINITI will be the first to bring this technology to the market in 2018. This new generation of powertrains will help our global growth and expansion of the INFINITI product portfolio.” Roland Krueger, President of INFINITI
