At its essence, INFINITI has consistently embodied a client experience that transcends the mere transaction of a car. This month, the brand achieved the remarkable feat of securing the second position among premium automotive brands in the J.D. Power 2023 U.S. Sales Satisfaction Index StudySM (SSI), underscoring its ongoing commitment to customer satisfaction.
Maintaining an impressive streak, INFINITI has now been ranked as a top-five premium brand in SSI for an impressive 12 consecutive years. In the latest evaluation, the brand secured an overall score of 832 for 2023, surpassing the premium average of 813.
J.D. Power’s SSI Study offers a thorough examination of the new-vehicle purchase experience from the client’s viewpoint. The study gauges satisfaction levels among buyers and rejectors across eleven key factors, encompassing elements such as the delivery process, retailer personnel, negotiation, facilities, and retailer websites. Notably, INFINITI excelled in the facilities and websites category.
Expressing pride in the achievement, Bob Welby, Senior Director of Operations at INFINITI USA, commented, “We are proud of our INFINITI teammates and retailers as they continue to deliver an elevated and satisfying car-buying experience. Our goal is to be the easiest premium brand to do business with, and thanks to our retail network – we’re well on our way.”
The brand’s commitment to enhancing the client experience is evident through initiatives like INFINITI NOW, allowing clients to initiate the car-buying process online and seamlessly connect with a local retailer. Furthermore, INFINITI retailers have emerged as industry leaders in utilizing technology throughout the sales process, leveraging innovations such as INFINITI’s patented ICAR-XTM sales and service app. The brand’s emphasis on online pricing transparency, the quality of retailer personnel, and advancements in eCommerce collectively contributed to the stellar performance in
the study.
What does a Japanese eagle, an America’s Cup yacht, and the works of a 1920s sculptor have in common? Each played a role in inspiring and influencing the INFINITI global design team, as they created their latest work, the Vision Qe concept. Fresh from its recent premiere in Tokyo, key members of the INFINITI global design team provide insights into the concept’s inception and the diverse sources that inspired and influenced them.
Artistry in Motion
All upcoming models from INFINITI adhere to an evolved design language known as Artistry in Motion. This new design form aims to deliver products that seamlessly blend evocative, artful design with powerful yet graceful movement.
For the Vision Qe concept, INFINITI’s global design team crafted a design embodying the philosophy of “Sho” to impart a sense of speed. Design Manager Hideo Komuro found a near-perfect example of “Sho” in the flying monohull sailboats of the America’s Cup yacht race.
INFINITI Exterior Designer Kazuki Aoyama drew the initial design sketch for the Vision Qe, stating, “Everything is anchored around a single pure gesture. A single line flows from the INFINITI emblem at the front, along the bodyside, and accelerates towards the rear, and everything follows that line.”
Team members studied Japanese eagles in flight, capturing photos of these powerful birds of prey in wildlife sanctuaries. Program Design Director Dai Sato explained, “While ideating on the Vision Qe concept’s profile, they examined the streamlined shape an eagle makes when diving for prey – with its wings tucked back to reduce drag and maximize speed.”
In the early stages of the project, the team developed a speed form: a model devoid of typical production details to explore the shape, profile, and proportions. Upon examining the sketches and speed form, Albaisa and Nakamura noted parallels between the lines and a powerful bird soaring in flight. For Albaisa, the shape also evoked images of Constantin Brancusi’s influential “Bird in Space” sculpture. Albaisa challenged the team to “replicate the simplicity and purity of such a sculpture, while creating something visually powerful” by adhering to a single-line gesture and adding only essential elements when crafting the sleek fastback sedan’s profile.
Deputy General Manager Gunda Matsumoto and Color Designer Hirofumi Akaike created the Vision Qe concept’s Shadow blue paint. The overarching goal was twofold: develop a bespoke color that could help bring INFINITI’s artistry in motion to life and leverage the philosophy of “Kabuku” to create a finish that elicits a sense of the extraordinary.
The designers also paid particular attention to the treatment of the concept’s wheels, ensuring they offer a distinctive contrast from the dark blue body color. The team adjusted the level of gradation for the gold treatment on the wheels, increasing transparency from the outer to innermost area of the spokes. The result, says Akaike, is “a greater sense of dynamism.”
Kenji Yamauchi, a digital and clay modeler within the global INFINITI design team, led the transformation from digital render to physical concept vehicle. Unlike typical design projects, the Vision Qe concept came to life without clay models. After finalizing the vehicle in digital form, Yamauchi created a scale rapid prototype model of the Vision Qe (approximately 50cm long) that allowed the team to examine the concept’s character and proportions ahead of producing a full-scale model.
Designing for the EV Era
Designing any concept vehicle requires a team of dozens, but the core group responsible for the INFINITI Vision Qe consisted of nine. This core group of nine talented individuals drew on over 180 years of cumulative experience working for INFINITI and Nissan design. The team is responsible for an array of models, including the pioneering INFINITI FX, Q60 luxury coupe, and the recently revealed QX Monograph.
Each member who worked on the project expressed a desire for INFINITI’s distinctive blend of artistry to leave an impactful impression.
The Vision Qe concept is currently on display at INFINITI’s global headquarters in Yokohama, Japan, and will make its motor show debut in 2024.

The 2024 Vincentric Lowest Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) Cost to Own in America Awards have been bestowed upon the INFINITI QX60 and INFINITI Q60. These accolades reflect the INFINITI Total Ownership Experience®, a steadfast commitment to delivering the bespoke, personalized service that defines INFINITI from the moment a Certified Pre-Owned vehicle is acquired. The INFINITI Certified Pre-Owned and Certified Pre-Owned Select programs offer an array of benefits, including thorough vehicle inspections, confidence-inspiring warranties, and roadside assistance.
Craig Keeys, Group Vice President, INFINITI Americas, expressed gratitude for the recognition, stating, “We are honored to be recognized by Vincentric for our commitment to creating luxurious, long-lasting vehicles while also ensuring our clients feel confident in their investment. It is a well-deserved award for both the QX60 and Q60.”
The 2024 Vincentric Best Certified Pre-Owned Value in America Awards are determined based on the average of all trim levels for each model over five years of ownership and an annual mileage of 15,000. The individual awards are as follows:
- INFINITI QX60 – Lowest CPO Cost to Own in America: Luxury Large SUV segment
- INFINITI Q60 – Lowest CPO Cost to Own in America: Luxury Coupe segment
David Wurster, Vincentric President, highlighted, “The INFINITI QX60 and Q60 had lower ownership costs compared to competing luxury vehicles in their respective segments. INFINITI’s strong performance in the 2024 Vincentric Best CPO Value in America Awards shows its commitment to consumers who are in the market for a luxury certified pre-owned vehicle.”
Vincentric determines the cost of ownership by aggregating expenses related to depreciation, insurance, repairs, maintenance, finance, fuel, taxes and state fees, and opportunity costs to calculate a measured cost of ownership. The average cost of ownership for all CPO year models is then averaged to determine which vehicle earns the Lowest CPO Cost of Ownership award.

With INFINITI remaining focused on their mission to elevate the client experience, it comes as no surprise to us that the brand would catch the attention of Reputation’s report. While INFINITI earned the top rank with a Reputation Score of 743, INFINITI also holds the highest visibility and engagement score of the U.S Luxury Brand category at 74 and 89 points, respectively.
“We are honored to be recognized by Reputation for our commitment to the client experience,” said Craig Keeys, group vice president, INFINITI Americas. “At INFINITI, our mission of providing an experience that’s about more than just the car has always been core to who we are. The QX Monograph Concept has Made its Debut

The well-awaited refresh to the iconic INFINITI QX80 has finally made its debut. Say hello to the all-new QX Monograph – inspired by INFINITI’s Japanese heritage with an emphasis on artistry. The QX Monograph is a perfect example of INFINITI’s evolution, characterized by a confident, athletic stance with graceful proportions.
New signature elements include an illuminated three-dimensional emblem at the front that gives the new INFINITI logo a front and center debut, the double-arched radiator grille inspired by the grandeur of a bamboo forest, and a new “digital piano key” lighting that grabs your attention. A powerful, sleek profile with a minimalist exterior can be found with a spacious interior.
The paint color is a striking new hue named “Akane” – inspired by the powerful and serene moment of a sunset. A complex, six-layer structure to capture the proper appearance of a warm glow into a dark sky transition. The QX Monograph’s prominent double-arched radiator grille bring upright lines within a mesh inner channel to create the flow of a bamboo forest. Finished in gloss black to complement the dark chrome, the grille gives a powerful driving experience.
The unique lighting system that separates the main headlight assembly and daytime running lights results in a sense of the extraordinary – “Kabuku” – paired with the intricate “digital piano keys” at the top of the grille. Beneath the “digital piano keys” lies the illuminated new INFINITI branded logo as a visual focal point to boldly announce the vehicle’s arrival.
The rear of the QX Monograph makes just as power of an exit. The tail lights run the width of the body, while the lamps feature a smoked finish that illuminated a vibrant shade of red once switched on. Inner housing channels the reflection of light on water, giving a memorable signature. The front and rear lighting delivers both “welcome” and “farewell” animation sequences that artfully create a sense of motion. At the front, the animation commences within the newly crafted three-dimensional INFINITI emblem within the grille and moves outward, highlighting the bamboo-inspired mesh of the radiator grille.
Large, precision machine-finished wheels with bold red highlights and gloss black and shadow chrome spokes compliment the powerful stance of the QX Monograph. The roof is adorned with a large “Kimono fold” pattern motif. Finished in “Akane,” the geometric pattern punctuates the gloss black finish, showcasing the profile of a large panoramic roof.
